“Professional hair is our reason to be, the stylist our creator, and the consumer our muse.” – Wella Vision.

Since its first incarnation in the 1880s, the Wella brand has been driven by vision and innovation in hairdressing. Now one of the most renowned hair brands in the world, Wella continues to live up to and beyond this promise. This vision is key to the colour services at Simon Smith, made possible in part by the range of creative products available to our technical team.

The Wella story begins with a young German hairdresser, Franz Stroher. Travelling through Europe, inspired by the needs and desires of the fashion conscious, Stroher developed the very first Wella products. For over 125 years, Wella has remained at the forefront of innovation in hairdressing, creating everything from ‘Koleston Perfect’, the first ever cream colour to ‘Wella Junior’, the world’s first portable permer.

To this day, Wella continues to absorb and be inspired by the latest in fashion, lifestyle and design. Wella Professionals Trend Vision is an annual insight into key emerging trends, translated into four directional hair trend looks that are presented to the industry on a global stage. This thirst for ingenuity and individuality is something that our Head of Technical, Carla McCourt, believes is unique to Wella;

“Wella is constantly releasing new innovations in hair colouring that keep me driven and make my job truly exciting. As Head of Technical, I can work with the Wella products to inspire our trainees and clients to go above and beyond what they thought could be achieved.”
